Piball 2026

Epoch 431500 (2026.03.03)

As the chronometers in the JumpPort lounge mark the passing of another full moon, we find ourselves at a momentous milestone: it has been a full Earthly orbit since the Ethereans aligned the station's systems to the flow of the MoonCat Seasons. Today, we bid farewell to the vibrant energy of Iteball and "spring" forward into the refreshing, tranquil atmosphere of Piball!

The Deep Space scientists, who have spent the past year refining their conversion algorithms, noticed that with the waxing and waning of the lunar light, different MoonCats went through different ebb and flow patterns too. It seems MoonCats are attuned to different astronomical alignments. That first Emball Ethereans with warm-colored MoonCats were most playful and active. That continued through Goball, though emphasizing MoonCats that were the most vibrant-colored rather than their paler cousins. But then through Iteball it flipped, and cool-colored MoonCats seemed to be the most energized.

So, a flurry of experiments, observations, field trips, and extrapolations have been drafted by the Deep Space research crew, planning to observe this phenomonon through the Piball season. They've chosen as test subject MoonCat #12399; a particularly charming MoonCat that's a pale, cool color, which would fit the pattern of coming into attunement this season. Will this MoonCat come in like a lion, out like a lamb? Are space-dwelling felines even related to Earthly lions? The Deep Space researchers have their beakers highly-polished and ready to do some science to figure it out!

P.S.A

Please be advised that current research indicates "attunement" is linked to a MoonCat's natural fur color. Any Ethereans caught attempting to manually "re-color" their MoonCats with experimental pixel-solvents to match the current season will be reported to the structural integrity team and may have their Boutique privileges temporarily suspended.
